David Sainsbury

David wanted to be a Plastic Surgeon from a young age. He qualified in 2001 from Newcastle Medical School. After doing his house jobs he was an Accident & Emergency Doctor in Gateshead and Anatomy Demonstrator at Newcastle University. He gained a place on the North-East Basic Surgical Training rotation in 2003 including Plastic Surgery placements at the University Hospital of North Durham and Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.

He spent one-year at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead continuing his Plastic Surgery training and undertaking Wound Healing Research at the Blond-McIndoe Research Foundation. He gained a place on the Northern Deanery Plastic Surgery Rotation in October 2007 and is currently working at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. David gained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2005 and is a Trainee Associate of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons. He has presented at numerous Plastic Surgery meetings in the UK and overseas and has academic papers published on various aspects of Plastic Surgery. He is currently undertaking a Master of Science Degree in Wound Healing and Tissue Repair at Cardiff University.
