Richard comes from Wakefield in West Yorkshire. He qualified in 1997 from Newcastle University and has worked continuously in general practice. He purchased Guidepost Dental Practice in November 2003. After initial modernisation of the long standing practice at 3 The Square he moved the practice to our existing premises in August 2005.

Richard has a continuing commitment to post-graduate education and is also a member of the Dental Sedation Teachers Group and the British Dental Association. Richard is one of the founder members of NEPD the North East Private Dentist group and has been on the committee since its start in November 2005.  Richard’s next challenge is studying for the Fellowship of General Dental Practitioners in London.

Richard has an interest in orthodontics particularly invisible braces, cosmetic dentistry and the treatment of anxious patients.

Richard is tremendously proud of the team who work at the practice and this culminated in the award of Investors in People in June 2005 and its subsequent re-accreditation in the summer of 2008.  The practice's high clinical and managerial standards were rewarded with its acceptance as a post-graduation training practice by The Postgraduate Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the University of Newcastle for 2007-8.

As the practice continues to grow Richard and Josie are working hard on maintaining the same family, friendly spirit that has been one of the greatest assets of the practice.
