Richard comes from Wakefield in West Yorkshire working continuously in dentistry since qualifying from Newcastle University in 1997. He purchased Guidepost Dental Practice in 2003 and after initial modernization of the long standing practice at "3 The Square" he moved the practice to our current premises in 2005.
Richard has a continuing commitment to post-graduate education and is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists, Dental Sedation Teachers Group and the British Dental Association.
Richard is one of the founder members of NEPD the North East Private Dentist group in November 2005. He has been Chairman of the group since January 2010.
Richard has an interest in orthodontics particularly invisible braces, he is a “PLATINUM Invisalign Doctor” having helped more than 70 patients, and having also completed the Inman Aligner course he is providing this revolutionary rapid alignment brace for his patients this compliments and aids his skills cosmetic dentistry and the treatment of anxious patients.
Richard is tremendously proud of the team who work at the practice and this culminated in the award of Investors in People in June 2005 and its subsequent re-accreditation in the summer of 2008.
In 2011 the practice received a number of accolades showing again the outstanding team work around the practice. We were awarded HIGHLY COMMENDED for our National Smile Month Programme and Recognized as one of the Best Employers by PRIVATE DENTISTRY MAGAZINE.

As the practice continues to grow Richard and Josie are working hard on maintaining the same family, friendly spirit that has been one of the greatest assets of the practice.
Outside of Dentistry, Richard played rugby at county level and competed nationally in athletics. Since retiring from Rugby, he has taken up cycling and completed Lands end to John o’Groats for the “Tiny Lives” Charity in September 2010.
